Untitled from the series As I Found Her: A Portrait of Eigg
About this artwork
As I Found Her: A Portrait of Eigg is a photographic portrait of one Hebridean island, its people and their way of life. The project stemmed from the photographer’s desire to belong somewhere and the joy he felt when he discovered Eigg. Visiting Eigg four times in 2016-17 he got to know the one hundred residents and found joy in becoming part of their community. Since 1997 the residents of Eigg have managed the running of the island themselves, with everyone involved in major decisions. To celebrate twenty years since the community buyout these portraits were displayed in the village hall in June 2017. This is Maggie in her garden in Laig.
