As well as caring for, preserving and presenting the artworks in our care to the broadest possible public, an essential activity for the National Galleries of Scotland is to continue to acquire artworks that enhance and complement our collection. These can come to us by many different means; including purchases, gifts and loans. This collection presents some of the works acquired in recent years, including painting, works on paper and photography.
