Enjoy a descriptive audio tour of some of the best-loved artworks on display at the National. The selected artworks range over 500 years and are all part of the National Galleries of Scotland’s world-class art collection.
This tour has been developed specifically for blind and partially sighted people, with the assistance of visually impaired access consultant Kirin Saeed.
It features detailed descriptions of 20 artworks and can be accessed via Soundcloud and Smartify.
Each artwork included on this tour is signified in the gallery by a large AD symbol and a QR code, situated below the artwork label. If using the smartify app, descriptions can be accessed by scanning the QR code or the artwork itself with your phone. Members of our gallery team are pleased to help you locate any artworks and we have included a track describing the layout of the gallery spaces to help you explore.
The tour begins in room 1 on level 2. It does not have to be followed in any particular order and certainly not all in one go – please come back as many times as you like. We hope you enjoy it!
