Biography

Arpita Shah is a photographic artist and educator based between Edinburgh and Eastbourne, UK. Her work explores the intersections of culture and identity through both photography and film. Born in India, Shah spent part of her early years between Ireland, Saudi Arabia and India before settling in the UK. Shah acknowledges that this migratory experience is reflected in her practice, which often focuses on the notion of home, belonging and shifting cultural identities. She graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a First Class BA (Hons) in Photography & Film in 2006. Her work has been shown internationally in the USA, India, and across the UK.
