Oil pastels on paper

This self-portrait has acted as an opportunity for me to explore ideas of chaos and colour, through a medium I have never used before: oil pastel. I’ve tried to break free of the neurotic perfectionism that seems to linger in my mind when I go to put pencil to paper. My technique in creating this portrait was to lean into expressionism and not to think too much about the end result.
