This exhibition of Robert Therrien’s work will coincide with the opening programme of The MAC, a major new purpose-built, multi-art form venue in Belfast. The three exhibition spaces at The MAC offer a physical scale and level of control for the presentation of contemporary visual art not previously possible in Northern Ireland.
The show will focus on Therrien’s concern with space and architecture and the interaction between viewer, environment and artwork, maximising the audience’s introduction to the magnificent spaces of The MAC through Therrien’s clever distortion of scale and perception. As a multi-art-form venue The MAC strives to introduce audiences to visual arts through a range of mediums. With Robert Therrien, the theatricality of the work will allow for interpretation through performance such as drama and dance.
