No Title (Scrubbrush Panel)

About this artwork

Throughout his career photography has provided Therrien with the means to experiment with scale and spatial depth. In this picture the artist has enlarged the image of a scrubbing brush and overlaid white chalk lines and patches of dark colour, causing the object to project outwards into the viewer’s space. Having also reproduced scrubbing brushes in sculptural form in varying scales, Therrien draws interesting parallels between sculpture and photography, where both can be used to manipulate and alter everyday objects to extraordinary effect.
