Kelly Macdonald’s career was launched when she saw an advert for open auditions for the 1996 hit film ‘Trainspotting’ whilst working in a bar. Since landing the role of Diane in the film she has starred in many TV shows and films both in the UK and in America. In 2005 she won an Emmy for her role in the BBC drama ‘The Girl in the Café’ and in 2007 she featured in the Coen brother’s Academy Award-winning film ‘No Country for Old Men’. More recently Macdonald starred in the American smash-hit TV series ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and in 2012 she was the voice of Merida in the Disney Pixar film, ‘Brave’. This photograph was taken shortly before the release of the 2001 film ‘Gosford Park’ in which she starred alongside Helen Mirren and Alan Bates.
