Untitled (black and white bed photo)
About this artwork
Absurdist comedy and satire are at the heart of Scottish artist David Shrigley’s artworks, which range from drawings, sculptures and paintings to outdoor interventions and installations. This work is one of many exploring his distinctive, childlike humour in a three-dimensional format. A sleeping stick- man has been drawn onto a single bed whilst a Peeping Tom looks on at the window. Shrigley encapsulates a disturbing scene here with the minimal of content, in a deliberately crass and basic style. He studied Environmental Art at Glasgow School of Art and has since maintained an interest in working outside the traditional gallery setting with subtle and light-hearted interventions like this one.
