Robyn Denny

Glass 2 (From There)

About this artwork

In reaction to the painterly, gestural aspects of 1950s Abstract Expressionism, a number of painters working in the early 1960s became interested in structures, systems and methods of notation. Such codes were a feature of sixties culture, influenced by new developments in science and technology. Robyn Denny was inspired by such developments. His art has been linked to aspects of 1960s culture such as the tower block, electronics and diagrams, and also to the fascination with systems of communication. Using the same basic grid structure, Denny varied colour and form to produce subtly different effects.
