An Indication Piece. Part one: Loch Lomondside, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, 1983
About this artwork
Having located to Glasgow in 1982, Cooper began exploring the areas around his newly adopted home. This triptych, an artwork made up of three parts, comprises photographs made at different locations and time points that he has brought together conceptually. The idea of the near field—recording closer to home and the lived space is often contrasted against the far field—photographing a more distant place. The tension between these two approaches is one that shapes Cooper’s work throughout his career.
