About this artwork

John Gordon Sinclair was born in Glasgow and became involved with the city’s youth theatre when he was fifteen. Whilst there, the film director Bill Forsyth cast him, and several others, in his 1981 production, ‘Gregory’s Girl’. Sinclair went on to star in two other films directed by Forsyth – ‘Local Hero (1983) and ‘Gregory’s Two Girls’ (1999). He has also worked on stage and TV, appearing in a lead role in John Byrne’s TV series ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’ in 1990. In 1995 he was awarded the Laurence Olivier award for his performance in the musical ‘She Loves Me’ (1994).
