The first major museum retrospective of this highly influential artist’s photographic portraits, Man Ray Portraits featured over a hundred works from his career in America and Paris; dating from 1916 to 1968.

Drawn from collections such as those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition demonstrated the central position of Man Ray among the leading artists of the Dada and Surrealist movements. The exhibition featured portraits of his friends, lovers and contemporaries, including two of his most significant muses: Lee Miller and Kiki di Montparnasse, as well as fellow artists Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali.
