Roy Dennis, born 1940
About this artwork
Roy Dennis is a professional ornithologist and wildlife consultant. He has worked in the Highlands and Islands since 1959, becoming one of the world's leading experts on ospreys and other birds of prey. In 1992 Dennis was awarded an MBE for Services to Nature Conservation in Scotland. The bird featured on this unusual glass portrait is the red kite, one of the animals successfully reintroduced into Scotland. Like the profile of the sitter, the red kite appears on all four layers of the piece, and is shown in various stages of flight.
