About this artwork
Sir William Quiller Orchardson (1832 – 1910) was one of a group of influential Scottish artists who studied under Robert Scott Lauder at the Trustees’ Academy. This informal sketch of Orchardson was made by his friend and fellow pupil at the Trustees’ Academy, J.H. Lorimer, brother of the architect Sir Robert Lorimer. It was probably made when they were both living in London.
