About this artwork
This is one of a series of larger than life-size heads Frink made between 1967-69 of men wearing dark glasses or goggles. She stated that ‘The Goggle Heads are likenesses of stupid people, portraits of stupidity cruelty and inhumanity. Brainless, nasty people. I think my first fully conscious comments on the world’s inhumanity were the Goggle Heads.’ It was cast in bronze in an edition of six, but this is an additional cast, made for the artist, and marked ‘AC’ for ‘Artist’s Cast’.
