100% cotton tote bag featuring the artwork Saint Bride by Scottish artist John Duncan, from the National Galleries of Scotland collection. Image printed on both sides of the bag.

Represented in this artwork is the legend of the Irish Saint Bride, who miraculously was transported by two angels to Bethlehem to attend the nativity of Christ. The artist’s self-portrait is included in the leading angel’s robe, depicted as a tiny clown (a holy fool) at the end of the procession of the magi.

John Duncan (1866-1945), born in Dundee is one of the leading representatives of the Celtic Revival in Scottish art and exponent of the Symbolist movement in Europe. Inspired by Italian Renaissance, his works are including a good range of mediums, from murals, and paintings to stained glass and book illustrations.
