The Artist

Born in Falkirk in 1931, Elizabeth Blackadder studied at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1950s, when she became closely acquainted with notable Scottish artists such as William Gillies and Anne Redpath.

From early on, Blackadder’s work demonstrated her superb ability as a draughtsman. She has recollected the emphasis on drawing as part of her training at Edinburgh College of Art, which has underpinned her work ever since.
