Boyd is perhaps best known for playing ‘Pippin’ in the film adaptation of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. He was born in Glasgow and spent around six years working as a book-binder before deciding to embark on an acting career. He enrolled at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and graduated in 1995. Boyd has since had a varied career, working on stage as well as film and he is also the lead singer in the band, Beecake. Boyd is a patron of the Scottish Youth Theatre.
