Eighteenth - Nineteenth Century Art
A display of smaller-scale paintings by some of the greatest European artists of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Our aim is always to share as many artworks with visitors as we possibly can, but challenges stemming from the Covid-19 outbreak has meant we have had to limit what we can safely put on display within the Gallery. This includes the Glasgow Boys and our Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works normally displayed in our upstairs back rooms (Rooms 14-18). Certain works may also be out on loan to other galleries.
What follows is a breakdown of rooms within the Scottish National Gallery that are NOT currently accessible. We apologise for any disappointment if your favourite works aren't on display. Our hope is to reopen certain areas when it is safe to do so in line with Government guidelines. In the meantime, we have created two short films which are tours of the spaces.
