Here are some useful tips to help everyone enjoy their visit. 

• Split into groups of 20 or less before you enter the gallery and throughout your visit. There must be a responsible adult with each group at all times. 
• Carry rucksacks in your hand, or leave in the lockers provided.
• Follow any instructions given by gallery staff.
• Touching artworks and plinths is not allowed. Even clean hands cause damage.
• No food or drink is allowed inside the gallery. Please book a lunchroom if you would like to eat snacks or lunch during your visit (subject to availability).
• You can take photos of most artworks. Check the labels for exceptions. No flash and tripods please.

We ask groups of 10 or more to book a visit in advance. If your group consists of less than 10 people there is no need to book.

For self-led visits please split into groups of a maximum of 20 people.

Please book at least two weeks in advance for a self-guided visit. 

Please book at least four weeks in advance for a workshop. 

There's no cost for early years groups. 

You’re more than welcome to book a room for lunch at the National, Portrait and Modern One. To book please contact [email protected]. Please clean the tables after use with the sanitising wipes provided and use the food bins provided.
