Propped by Jenny Saville large mounted postcard
Propped by Jenny Saville 15 x 21 cm postcard presented in a 20 x 25.2cm mount.
This postcard is a reproduction of the original Propped which depicts a woman balanced precariously on a stool, regarding the viewer with a challenge in her eyes.
This painting is an important one in Jenny Saville's oeuvre, as early on in her career she was grappling with important questions of feminism, femininity, and attempting to reconcile her feminist ideas with her need to paint large female nudes.
Jenny Saville RA (born 7 May 1970) is a contemporary British painter associated with the Young British Artists. She is known for her large-scale painted depictions of nude women. Saville’s monumental self-portrait, Propped, previously exhibited at the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art Summer 2018, sold for £9.5 million, which broke the auction record for a living female artist.
