A smartly presented pack of six postcards has been produced to accompany the exhibition Turner in January the annual display of watercolours by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775 - 1851), from the Vaughan Bequest, bequeathed to the Galleries by the distinguished collector Henry Vaughan. These paintings have been exhibited every January for over 100 years at the National Galleries of Scotland.
This postcard pack comes in a brown paper envelope and includes six landscape postcards with artwork on the front. On the back of the postcard there’s space for writing a message plus information about the artwork. Printed in the UK on 300gsm. FSC accredited
Some of the most stunning works by Turner are represented in this selection, such as scenes of Durham, Loch Coruisk and The Piazzetta, Venice which is featured on the front cover.
Joseph Mallord William Turner was perhaps the most prolific and innovative of all British artists to take inspiration from the landscape. He was a brilliant water-colourist and excelled at oil painting, and he also made a number of works which were intended to be reproduced as prints.
