William Morris 2022 wall calendar
This calendar features twelve patterned artworks by British Artist William Morris. Perfect for hanging at home or over an office desk.
A leader in both the styles and politics of his time, William Morris’s designs are more than just intricate patterns full of plants and the occasional bird. In response to the industrial designs and manufacturing of the Machine Age, Morris created wallpapers and fabrics that boasted natural, floral motifs and handmade craftmanship. His work and ideology inspired many of the artists around him, ushering in the Arts and Crafts movement. Twelve of his intricate botanical designs are showcased here.
William Morris (English, 1834–1896) was also a writer, a founder of England’s socialist movement, and a designer of typefaces, fabrics, and wallpapers. He believed that decoration, in its finest form, gives pleasure to those who use it, as well as to those who make it. So, after training as an architect, he cofounded a decorating company to produce glasswork, metalwork, and countless other crafts, including many textiles he designed himself.
