Le violon d’Ingres by Man Ray brass bookmark
£12.99
Solid brass gold-finished bookmark inspired by Le violon d’Ingres, the photograph of Man Ray’s iconic muse, his model Kiki of Montparnasse. Designed by David Howell & Company, this unique bookmark comes with a fine black tassel.
Representative of the Dada group, Man Ray was an innovative artist who combined living as a fashion and portrait photographer, while pursuing creative activities on the side. He pioneered several techniques, including ‘solarization’.
Le violon d’Ingres is part of a series of photographs inspired by the paintings of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres that Man Ray made, transforming the nude body into a musical instrument moving between objectification and appreciation of the female body.
For more than 30 years, David Howell & Company, inspired by the art world, have been adapting original and iconic works to design and manufacture modern and meaningful museum quality gifts.
