National Galleries of Scotland art competition for schools 2020 calendar
A colourful 2020 wall calendar illustrating a selection of winners from the 2019 National Galleries of Scotland art competition for schools, supported by Players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
This competition encourages school children to interact with, and be inspired by, artworks in the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection.
This year, the sixteenth year of the competition, we received over 8,600 entries, from schools across 31 council areas of Scotland, enjoying the opportunity to get creative in the classroom and to let their imaginations and artistic flair loose.
Children from nursery, primary, secondary and special education schools from all over Scotland have been inspired by their national collection. Themes this year included: 'Petals, Leaves and Bumblebees', 'Dragons', 'Spark, Flicker and Flame', and 'Drip, Pour, Splash, Freeze' & 'Eat'.
The amazing 53 winning entries are displayed at:
- The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern One) from 1 June – 22 September 2019
- The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, 25 September 2019 – 2 January 2020
- Borders General Hospital, 8 January – 30 April 2020
