Loie Fuller was a dancer who pioneered a unique style of choreographed dancing utilising extravagant dresses which reflected various lights that were projected onto them. She called this the Serpentine Dance. Ahead of her time, she was refused a patent as her dance did not tell a story.

Jules Chéret (1836-1932) was a Frech painter and lithographer, master figure of the Art Nouveau movement, who increased his popularity thanks to his poster ads of cabarets, music halls and theatres of the Belle Epoque.
