Large poster print of Le Temps Menaçant [Threatening Weather] by Rene Magritte, from the National Galleries of Scotland Collection. Paper size is 50 x 70 cm with the image size measuring 46 x 62.3 cm.

'Threatening Weather' was painted in 1929 while Magritte was staying with Dalí near Cadaqués, in Spain. This painting is a perfect example of Magritte's use of familiar objects in an unexpected manner. Three objects float over the sea like clouds in a way that seems natural but unnatural.

Rene Magritte, a Belgian artist did not subscribe to the view that the unconscious could be expressed through chance or 'automatic' techniques like many of his Surrealists counterparts. Instead, he planned and executed his paintings with all the deliberation and skill of an academic painter. Magritte is now regarded as possibly the most important Belgian and Surrealist artist of the 20th century.
