Charles Avery was one of seven artists commissioned to create new work for Edinburgh Art Festival 2015. Edinburgh Art Festival is the platform for the visual arts at the heart of Edinburgh’s August festivals, bringing together the capital’s leading galleries, museums and artist-run spaces in a city-wide celebration of the very best in visual art.

The Scottish artist Charles Avery is one of the most interesting contemporary artists, with a considerable international reputation. Since 2004, Avery (1973, Oban, UK) has dedicated himself to the invention of an imaginary island, new corners of which he continues to chart through drawings, sculptures and texts.
