John Byrne was born in Paisley, 1940 and studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1958 to 1963. He is one of Scotland’s most versatile and accomplished artists and writers. Throughout his career he has produced a varied selection of drawings, paintings and multi-media works from across his career, which depict friends and family as well as famous sitters, such as Tilda Swinton and Billy Connolly. Byrne has also produced many insightful and witty self-portraits which forms a strong element of his work.
