Lady Agnew ready to hang gold ornate framed print

£15.00

Classic traditional gold ornate frame of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw by John Singer Sargent, part of the National Galleries of Scotland Collection. This art print is beautifully presented and ready to hang on your wall.

Frame size 29 x 24 cm, image size 18 x 13 cm plus white border, printed on museum fine art paper 280gsm, a gently textured etching paper particularly suited to giclee reproductions of artworks and paintings, ideal for premium colour and monochrome print.

This is the portrait of Gertrude Vernon (1864-1932), commissioned by Lady Agnew’s husband, Andrew Noel Agnew, who was a barrister and barony of Lochnaw in Galloway. The popularity of the painting made Sargent become recognised and on demand as a portrait painter and brought Lady Agnew some reputation as a society beauty.

John Singer Sargent is an American artist born in Italy who also travelled worldwide throughout his life. He studied in Paris where he developed his style, remarkable by his bold use of light in both portrait and landscape paintings.
