Limited edition etching print Fireflies and Faces by Raqib Shaw produced exclusively for the National Galleries of Scotland, based on the work Self Portrait with Fireflies and Faces from the National Galleries of Scotland Collection.

Based on the work gifted to the National Galleries of Scotland in 2018 it shows the artist kneeling, cradling  his dog under arm and a bird cage in his other outstretched arm. The fireflies mingle with an array of disembodied self-portrait heads.

Raqib Shaw is one of the most extraordinary and sought-after artists working anywhere in the world today. Born in Calcutta, raised in Kashmir, and studied in London, where he now lives. He takes inspiration from both Eastern and Western imagery, fusing them together through his own highly personal lens.

Shaw says these fantastical worlds are laden with satire and irony, and can be read "as a commentary on my own experience of living in this society, and of being alive."

This limited edition Fireflies and Faces is an Etching with aquatint on 300gsm Somerset Satin White paper, printed in monochrome by Huguenot Editions.

Edition numbers are allocated on a sequential first come first served basis. Requires specific handling and packaging. Shipped in custom tubing by courier.
