35 x 28 cm art print reproduction Winged Figure prototype, 1961-2 by Barbara Hepworth, from the Wakefield Art Collection, permanently installed at The Hepworth Wakefield.

In 1961 John Lewis commissioned the Yorkshire-born artist to create a work that evoked common interest and ownership, which when completed, was placed 13 feet above the busy cross-section between Holles Street and Oxford Street.

Hepworth was known to be extremely proud of this work, commenting; "If the Winged Figure in Oxford Street gives people a sense of being airborne in rain and sunlight and nightlight I will be very happy."

Produced to accompany the major retrospective Barbara Hepworth | Art & Life, on show at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern Two) from 9 April until 2 October 2022. The largest exhibition of the artist’s work since her death in 1975, spanning her entire career.

Dame Jocelyn Barbara Hepworth DBE (10 January 1903 – 20 May 1975) was a British artist and sculptor. One of the twentieth century’s most inspiring artists and a pioneer of modernist sculpture, and was one of the few female artists of her generation to achieve international prominence.
