Still life with Cucumber by Robert MacBryde art print
Art print featuring the artwork Still life with cucumber by Robert MacBryde, from the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland.
Printed on museum quality fine Art paper 280gsm, a gently textured etching paper particularly suited to giclee reproductions of artworks and paintings.
MacBryde rarely painted classic still-life objects such as apples or pears, and instead opted for more obscure (particularly in the ration-book, post-war era) fruit and vegetables which either had phallic associations or were full of seeds.
Robert MacBryde was a Scottish Artist, a still-life and figure painter and a theatre set designer. His life and career are inextricably linked with Robert Colquhoun. At Glasgow School of Art, he met Robert Colquhoun, with whom he established a lifelong romantic relationship and professional collaboration, the pair becoming known as "the two Roberts".
