Processional Frieze by William Brassey Hole panoramic print

£29.99

4.4 metre full length panoramic print reproducing the Processional Frieze in the Great Hall of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery by William Brassey Hole. It comes rolled in a cardboard tube.

This processional frieze is one of the building’s most striking features. It comprises a dazzling, painted procession of famous Scots from across history, picked out in full colour and gold leaf.

Scottish artist William Brassey Hole specialised in history painting and etching. He painted large-scale murals and got commissioned by John Ritchie Findlay, owner of ‘The Scotsman’ newspaper who donated money to build the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, to carry out some decorative work inside the building. Hole designed and painted the processional frieze, which took several years to complete.
