Portrait of Joseph Brewer by William McCance art print

35.6  x 28 cm art print reproduction of Portrait of Joseph Brewer, 1925 by William McCance from the National Galleries of Scotland Collection.

Museum Fine Art paper 280gsm, a gently textured etching paper particularly suited to giclee reproductions of artworks and paintings. Ideal for premium colour and monochrome prints.

Joseph Brewer was secretary to the editor of The Spectator magazine, for which the artist worked as art critic from 1923 to 1926. The vivid colours, metallic sheen and sculptural, robotic forms are typical of McCance's work of this period.

William McCance was a Scottish artist, and was second Controller of the Gregynog Press in Powys, mid-Wales. McCance was born in a suburb of Glasgow and studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1911-5. In 1918 he married a fellow student, Agnes Miller Parker (one of Britain's leading wood-engravers)
