Reverend Walker Silver Beaded Christmas Decoration

Luxurious plush fabric decoration inspired by the painting Reverend Robert Walker (1755 - 1808) Skating on Duddingston Loch, about 1795, by Sir Henry Raeburn (1756 - 1823), part of the Scottish National Gallery Collection, NG 2112

St. Nicolas decorations are handmade using the traditional method of zardozi embroidery. Zari (meaning gold) embroidery originated in Persia and reached India in the 12th century. It is a highly skilled embroidery technique that traditionally used gold wires and jewels to embellish courtly robes. Zardozi work is a rare and respected craft, the skills of which are handed down from generation to generation
