Inspired by the poem "To a Mouse" is a Scots-language poem written by Robert Burns in 1785 as part of our Burns Night Collection. According to legend, Burns was ploughing in the fields and accidentally destroyed a mouse's nest, which it needed to survive the winter.  Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), also known familiarly as Rabbie Burns, the National Bard, was a Scottish poet and lyricist.
