Best known for his stunning textiles and furniture, William Morris (1834 – 1896) was a British artist, poet, novelist, translator, influential arts-and-crafts designer and socialist activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. Morris and partners founded the company called Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. decorative arts firm in 1861, which soon became very popular and much in demand. Their designs significantly influenced interior decoration in the Victorian period, with their beautiful tapestries, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and stained-glass windows.
