Winter 2022 edition of Studies in Photography, the journal of The Scottish Society for the History of Photography (SSHoP). This high-quality magazine-style journal of Studies in Photography includes a rich variety of articles. Of note is Professor David Ingram’s discussion of the remarkable autochrome process; exemplary work by David Williams, Ectasies, from 1989; and Alex Hamilton’s short interview with Daryl Green, who offers an exciting glimpse into the work of Edinburgh University Special Collections.

It also features a series of portraits of judges by David Eustace and presents acclaimed novelist Kate Atkinson’s ‘Writer Choice’. Other important historical articles include an examination by Gael Newton of the Asian pictorialist Shapoor N Bedhwar, and new research by Michael Gray into photographs by Fox Talbot of his assistant Nicolaas Henneman and his wife.
