Turner's Italy (paperback)
Small illustrated colour paperback guide to accompany the exhibition Turner & Italy exhibited at the Scottish National Gallery in 2009. The only UK showing of this blockbuster exhibition, it included outstanding loans from collections in America, Australia and Europe, which celebrated and explored the love affair between the artist Turner and Italy.
Joseph Mallord William Turner was fascinated by the experience of different countries and cultures across Europe, but it was Italy and its art and architecture that always held a special place in his affections.
The richness and diversity of the country's climate, landscapes, cities and customs, are reflected in many of Turner's finest paintings, which range from unforgettable images of the splendour of Rome, to smouldering sunsets over the rooftops of Venice.
