Rough Cut Nation - Street Art and Graffiti Culture (paperback)
Extensively illustrated book to records a unique artistic collaboration which brought a Graffiti and street art ethos to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in which Scottish history and identity depicted through the eyes of contemporary artists.
Designed in collaboration with Edinburgh College of Art this book, which records the event and marks the Portrait Gallery’s re-opening, is the result of a unique partnership between Edinburgh College of Art and the National Galleries of Scotland.
During the summer of 2009, Rough Cut Nation filled the hallowed halls of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery as it closed for redevelopment. A team of young artists and musicians, inspired by the historic murals of William Hole, which are integral to the building, seized their opportunity to reconfigure Scottish identity in a riotous, multi-layered installation.
