Oil on panel

In this painting, a big cat is in some undefined relationship with a human environment. Influenced by Surrealism, I enjoy introducing foreign elements into familiar environments, hence the lion strolling beside the girl, along a path based on Cramond foreshore in Edinburgh, while improbable high wire acts are performed behind them. I use a combination of direct observation and working from my imagination in the hope of creating a unique dreamworld. I work slowly in oils, revising much as I go along, using fine brushes for detail.
