This sequence in Mysterious Island (1961) was a tribute by Harryhausen to both Doré's illustration from Atala and to King Kong.

The log crossing scene, featured in King Kong where the crew of the Venture rush across a ravine over a fallen tree, has become iconic and was replicated by director Peter Jackson in his 2005 remake of the film.

Mysterious Island was based on the novel by Jules Verne.
