The Aspirational mask

Andrew David Cronshaw

Edinburgh

Story
I discovered during Lockdown that I could walk 8 miles from my home to Portobello and back instead of using a car. At the start of 2020 the idea of buying and wearing a mask was inconceivable. It took several months of deliberation before mask wearing was considered mandatory. The window display borrows from Joseph McKenzie’s famous photograph taken in the Hawkhill, Dundee in the 1960s. Incidentally his photograph is currently on display at a retrospective exhibition at the McMannus Galleries, Dundee.

Vision
Hopefully in future children will be taught about pandemics in schools and be prepared for the experience, perhaps in their lifetime.

Hopefully the importance of science will be recognised and research well-funded in future years.
