BP Portrait Award 2017
Selected from 2,580 entries by artists from 87 countries around the world, the BP Portrait Award 2017 represents the very best in contemporary portrait painting. From informal and personal studies of friends and family to revealing images of famous faces, the exhibition features a variety of styles and approaches to the contemporary painted portrait. A fixture at the National Portrait Gallery, London for 38 years - 28 of which have been sponsored by BP - the BP Portrait Award is now in its eighth year at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and continues to be an unmissable highlight of the annual art calendar.
