When Warriston Cemetery was laid out in 1842, it was the first of Edinburgh’s wonderful garden burial grounds and for a time the most fashionable. Warriston’s fortunes have long since declined, but the overgrowth of nature and time now render it one of the capital’s most beautiful and poignant public spaces. Friends of Warriston Cemetery are working to uncover, preserve and research these fascinating memorials. During our visit, expert guides will share with us their knowledge of the graves of the many artists buried here.
