The extensive grounds around the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art provide an ideal setting for outdoor sculpture. The Gallery’s wide-ranging collection of 20th and 21st century works includes examples such as Henry Moore’s Reclining Figure and Barbara Hepworth’s Conversation with Magic Stones but also Tracey Emin’s Roman Standard and Nathan Coley’s There Will Be No Miracles Here. Liv Laumench, Public Art Officer at the University of Edinburgh, will lead a guided tour of the highlights of the outdoor sculptures at Modern One and Modern Two, giving us a fascinating insight into the ideas that lie behind these works.
Please note: this walking tour is on uneven ground.
The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is located 15 minutes’ walk from Princes Street. It includes two buildings, Modern One and Modern Two, set in a beautiful sculpture park.
