Factum Arte are a team of artists, technicians and conservators dedicated to the production of works for contemporary artists and facsimiles of old masters. They were founded in 2001 by Adam Lowe and have studios in Madrid, London and Milan. In this talk, Lowe will speak about the recreation of Caravaggio´s Nativity with Saint Francis and Saint Laurence. The original, stolen in 1969 from the Oratorio di San Lorenzo in the heart of Palermo, was given back to the people of Palermo in 2015 in the form of a reproduction. Re-making the lost painting involved many people with skills in photography, image processing, digital restoration, painting, restoration, art history, digital printing and varnishing.
