Every third Wednesday of the month, Open Book will be reading aloud and discussing passages of fiction, non-fiction and poetry linked to works of art from the collection. This will then be used as inspiration for a short writing exercise. There is no need to read or prepare anything in advance. Each session is facilitated by a Lead Reader from Open Book.
In order to protect our vulnerable works of art from any kind of accidental damage we kindly ask all visitors to either carry their rucksack/backpack by hand or place it in a locker.
Located in the city centre on Queen Street, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery is easy to access.
Friends of the Galleries get free unlimited entry to all exhibitions, and enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits including early exhibition access, special events and 10% discount in our cafes.
